Thesis Notes/ Sir Ken Robinson Notes/Brainstorm Ideas

I wanted people to understand the isolation of being in a foreign country and developing a skill to overcome it and it help it more ways than none. Being alone in a place without the basic communication skill can be hard and even harder to pursue the language without any formal studies. I wanted to show that all it takes is initiative and hard work to learn a second language and the benefits that come along with learning it. It showed that not only do you have the initial result of being able to speak to people and using it your daily life but it can carry on to other activities.

Sir Ken Robinson:

-Human Creativity
-Humorous
-Education is personal and important. Teaching kids about the uncertainty. All kids have talents but system won't develop them. Creativity same level as Literacy. Not scared about being wrong. "Be prepared to be wrong". Don't be scared to make mistakes. Always thinking about what is right and wrong can hinder passion and creativity. Dance and art are important just like mathematics. Schools on focusing on the "heads and not the bodies" of a person. System of public education only judges brilliance through work force related subjects. Education is diverse and dynamic.

Not one subject proves intelligence. Everyone is intelligent in their own way and the only way to incorporate that is to expand the educational caste system to nurture other bright minds. Public education is design to harness people's "distinct" gifts that could help society on a whole and not just for the industrial work force. Sir Robinson states the dire need to control the over inflated education process and left creativity flourish amongst the other bright minds in art, music, and dance. That those people are gifted and intelligent in their own ways and we shouldn't believe they are an academic inferiority.

I want to try and find teachers that are trying to pioneer different education systems and what they are doing to help develop a different type of education for the kids who don't "live inside their heads". I think the education system seems very archaic and it does nothing to help children that process information in different methods that they're forced to go 18 years through a system that would not benefit their academic needs.

  2. I like that you want to find new and different education systems. There are a lot of kids that need that type of innovation and new developments. I like how you describe them as not thinking inside their heads, it gave me a visual of kids needing their hands to explore and learn things.
